d&b audiotechnik has recently launched the latest version of ArrayCalc, 11.4. This update provides a more streamlined interface that works in tandem with EASE 5, the electro-acoustic simulation software. This integration creates a more efficient workflow for users to model sound systems and room acoustics.

The Product Manager of Software at d&b audiotechnik, Florian Hahn, stated that “The transition between ArrayCalc and EASE has been significantly simplified and streamlined for the first time”. He added, “Users can now export the XLD file format with a more comprehensive set of data. This move to facilitate the transfer of pertinent data from ArrayCalc 11.4 to EASE 5 underlines our dedication to deliver solutions that make the lives of acoustic planners and sound system designers easier.”

For professionals such as acoustic planners, consultation agencies, and sound engineers, the connection between ArrayCalc 11.4 and EASE 5 simplifies the previously complex and error-prone workflow. The newly introduced advanced export feature for d&b system designs is a highlight of the latest ArrayCalc release, version 11.4. It facilitates a smooth export of the XLD format, amalgamating relevant loudspeaker information into one single file.

This XLD text file consolidates data such as the loudspeaker GLL type (like XSL LA.gll), as well as the precise positioning, orientation, delay, and level information for each component of the sound system, as set up in ArrayCalc. This improvement smooths the transition process with EASE 5, enabling users to import the comprehensive XLD file straight into the simulation environment. This new function will be supported from the R60 update of EASE 5, which was released in February 2024.

Moreover, ArrayCalc 11.4 significantly enhances workflow efficiency for acoustic planners and engineers by exporting each individual point source item within the group for projects involving point source groups. This ensures an accurate representation and simplifies complex simulations. The consolidated approach of ArrayCalc 11.4 promises smoother collaboration and more precise simulations.
