Noted for their spherical video products, Insta360 recently released an impressive update for their proprietary video editing software, Insta360 Studio.
Modernized Touch to Video Editing
Lauded as a significant advancement, the update brings along a host of intriguing features such as the capacity to consolidate multiple 360-degree files into a single timeline, the incorporation of a novel speed editing tool, and the ability to edit an array of clips complete with transitions and media assets.
Insta360’s announcement applauds these enhancements, stating, “These developments have essentially morphed Insta360 Studio into a dynamically adaptable editing aid that readily caters to the needs of today’s creators.” It further claims its ability to generate seamless, immaculate edits fit for instant sharing, capable of handling both 360-degree footage and standard flat images alike.
Streamlined Post-Processing and Editing
After a day-long shooting spree of 360-degree video clips, users can now compile them into a single unit for post-processing. A notable departure from the erstwhile process, where an additional assembly edit external to Insta360 Studio was required before finalizing the project.
Users can initiate a fresh project, import clips onto the timeline and proceed to trim or calibrate each clip as per their needs directly from the key timeline. The new update also provides the advantage of simultaneously working on multiple editing projects, allowing easy toggling between them.
Feature-Rich Additions
Further enhancements are captured in the update’s support for other media elements like a soundtrack, customizable text and title overlays, and video transitions. The software allows the user to select from a range of royalty-free music offered by Insta360 or import their original compositions.
Text, animation, and effects can also be integrated and customized to suit the video stream. Meanwhile, transitions that include special effects, speed ramping, and other unique versions such as tiny planet and barrel roll transitions are equally accessible.
The update further streamlines the process by introducing a single-click keyframe addition and the ability to sync changes with other ongoing projects and clips.
Downloading and Installation
Available for both Windows and iOS platforms, this Insta360 Studio update is compatible with all Insta360 consumer action cameras, including the Insta360 Ace Pro & Ace, X3, ONE X2, RS, GO 3, GO 2, and others. The update can be downloaded from the Insta360 Support Website.
A corresponding version of the AI-powered Insta360 Mobile Editing app, essentially collaborating with the desktop version, is also available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
These user-oriented features from Insta360 are poised to break the constraints of its niche video recording market and venture into the expansive domain of non-linear editing of multiple camera platforms.
