Apple is set to position itself as the hub for all AI-related things, with the introduction of powerful new features in Logic Pro for iPad 2 and Logic Pro for Mac 11. These new features, some of which are AI-driven, include the Stem Splitter and new Virtual Musicians.
Stem Splitter, being the most notable addition, allows users to divide almost any audio recording into four separate parts: Drums, Bass, Vocals, and Other instruments. Users can then effortlessly apply effects, incorporate new parts, or modify the mix.
In addition, the ChromaGlow feature allows users to achieve the perfect tone by choosing from five different saturation styles, granting tracks ultrarealistic warmth, presence, and punch.
The Session Players have also been extended, with the newly introduced virtual Bass Player and Keyboard Player. Trained in collaboration with top bass players using advanced AI and sampling technologies, Bass Player offers eight different styles, while allowing users to control the complexity and intensity of their performance.
The Chord Track feature enables users to edit and define song chord progressions, which both the Bass Player and Keyboard Player will follow perfectly. With the Studio Bass plug-in, users can access six new, meticulously recorded instruments, spanning acoustic to electric.
Keyboard Player, designed in cooperation with top studio musicians, offers four different styles to cater to a wide variety of music genres. With a nearly endless variation, it can play everything from simple block chords to chord voicing with extended harmony.
The Studio Piano plug-in provides additional sound-shaping options, including the adjustment of three mic positions, pedal noise, key noise, release samples, and sympathetic resonance.
The pricing structure of Logic Pro for Mac 11 and Logic Pro for iPad 2 is similar to that of the new Final Cut Pro. They will be available for $199 for new users and free for existing users on the Mac App Store, and for $4.99 per month or $49 per year on the App Store, respectively, with a one-month free trial for new users.
