Kolari has expanded its product line with the launch of its Magnetic Clip-In Filters, which are now available for Sony APS-C E Mount cameras. These filters, a signature product of Kolari, come with a range of light-blocking levels. The selection includes standard ND and mist diffusion filters, along with more specialized options.

Filter Varieties and Capabilities

The filter series includes a diverse range of infrared wavelengths and a UV/IR-Cut option. There are also options for neutral density filters with 3, 6, and 10 stop capacities, along with Mist Diffusion 1/4, Iridium color enhancing, and IR Chrome Lite.

Kolari highlights the importance of compatibility. The filters do block and permit certain light wavelengths, but they aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Only cameras converted to full spectrum or covering the requisite range are compatible.

Through this design, the camera captures the entire wavelength spectrum, while the filter controls what penetrates. This allows the camera to operate in multiple modes, including various infrared wavelengths and full color without infrared or ultraviolet disruptions.

Infrared Variety

Five infrared wavelength filters are available: 550nm, 590nm, 665nm, 720nm, and 850nm. These wavelengths are standard for digital infrared photography, and each offers a distinct aesthetic. With a converted camera and these filters, photographers can adopt multiple aesthetics rather than sticking to a single one.

Broad Compatibility

These filters aren’t new to the market and are already available for full-frame Sony E mount, Fujifilm X, Canon RF, RED Komodo/V-Raptor, and full-frame Nikon Z mount. But now they’ve expanded their reach to APS-C Sony users, offering the advantages of a sensor filter system that sits behind the lens.

The recently added Sony APS-C Mount Magnetic Clip-In Filters support Sony A6000, Sony A6100, Sony A6300, Sony A6400 ($748), Sony A6500, and Sony A6600 ($998) models.

Pricing and Availability

Depending upon the type of filter, prices vary between $99.99 and $139.99. There’s an additional $1 charge for the magnetic mounting plate, required in one instance per camera.
