Canon has unveiled the RF 35mm F1.4L VCM, a pioneering hybrid lens engineered for capturing both still images and video. This lens marks a significant first in Canon’s lineup, offering unique features tailored for videography.

The RF 35mm F1.4L VCM stands out as the only RF prime lens equipped with a dedicated iris control ring for video. It also boasts an 11-blade aperture and minimal focus breathing, enhancing its video capture capabilities.

Lens Features and Design

The RF 35mm F1.4L VCM offers the option for both front and rear filters, adding to its versatility. It integrates the fast Nano USM with the even faster Voice Coil Motor (VCM) technology, ensuring swift and accurate focusing. A dedicated Lens Control Ring and customizable Lens Function Button further enhance user control and customization.

The lens features a fluorine coating, preventing dirt and sand from adhering to the front. Its lightweight design, lighter than its EF predecessor, ensures comfortable shooting for extended periods. Moreover, the lens incorporates aspheric and UD lens elements, along with Super Spectra and ASC coatings, to deliver clear images free from flare and ghosting.

Pricing and Availability

The Canon RF 35mm F1.4L VCM is currently available for pre-order at a price of $1,499 USD.
