Tilta has recently expanded its Hydra Car Mounting System product line with the addition of the Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System and the Hydra Electronic Suction Cup.

A Closer Look at the Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System

The Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System stands out with its three 6” suction cups, heavy-duty articulating arms and a substantial load capacity of 19.95kg or 44 lbs. This system, lightweight in its construct, is perfectly tailored for capturing both interior and exterior shots in diverse environments.

At the heart of the system lies the 75mm ball head offering a low center of gravity and up to 15° horizontal adjustment. This system is not only compatible with other 75mm tripod heads, but also provides adapters for 100mm tripod heads.

The system’s head comes with the support for Arca and Manfrotto quick-release plates. This enhances its compatibility with mirrorless and lightweight cinema cameras, irrespective of whether they are with or without cages.

Constructed from high-strength aluminum alloy and stainless steel, each articulating arm can carry up to 17.5 lbs. They also feature a reversible locking knob for user-friendly operation.

The Hydra Articulating Car Mounting System is currently available for pre-order at $449 USD.

The newly introduced suction cups come with air pressure detection technology. This system monitors air pressure changes 1000 times per second, recognizing and displaying status information on an electronic screen.

Once a pressure loss is detected, the system’s motor is automatically activated to pump out extra air to prevent the suction cups from detaching. This high-performance motor, powered by an internal battery, ensures electronic suction is completed within 5 seconds, significantly improving the attachment speed of these suction cups.

The mechanical structure of the suction cup has been redesigned with an optimized, compartmentalized design that increases the contact area by 20%, offering added stability and reliability.

The modular design of these suction cups allows for various mounting plates to be used, making them adaptable with different support systems. The internal battery can be charged via USB-C.

The Hydra Electronic Suction Cup is now available to order, with prices ranging between $78 USD and $116 USD depending on the version.

It’s essential to exercise caution and prioritize safety when attaching cameras to moving vehicles. Always ensure that the camera rig has several tether points and it’s secured to the vehicle in more than one way. Furthermore, adherence to all local traffic laws and regulations is a must.
