Joining the brand’s expanding cinema line, Viltrox has made a new addition – the Zmove Diopters Set. Designed exclusively for cinema lenses, this set of four diopter filter pledges improved minimum focus distance, greater magnification levels, and uncompromised image quality. Let’s delve into the details!

Viltrox’s Commitment to Cinema

The name Viltrox has typically been synonymous with budget-friendly photographic lenses and lens adapters. However, in recent years, the company has been increasing its foothold in the world of cinema. After launching a set of cine lenses for E-mount and Micro Four Thirds cameras in early 2023, this Chinese brand unveiled its pioneering professional-oriented EPIC T2.0 1.33x full-frame anamorphic set. Continuing to innovate, Viltrox has teased the future release of the powerful LUNA, a 30-300mm full-frame cine zoom, and introduced a range of PL lens adapters for mirrorless cameras. The latest offering in this line-up is their maiden set of cinema-grade filters.

Unpacking the Features of Viltrox Zmove Diopters Set

This newly launched Viltrox Zmove Series Cine Lens Diopters Set comprises four filters, each providing varying levels of magnification (+0.5/+1/+2/+3). These filters enable the cinematic lens to obtain a shorter minimum focus distance, allowing closer proximity to the subject for macro close-ups. Please note, though, that while these filters expand on close-up possibilities, they do impact infinity focus, limiting the lens to focus on far-off subjects.

These filters utilize a clamp-on design, akin to the current Vaxis 114mm diopters, and can be affixed directly onto any cinematic lens with a front outer diameter of 114mm. To enhance compatibility, the set includes three adapters for lenses with a front outer diameter of 80, 95, or 110mm.

The filters can be layered to amplify magnification; however, stacking multiple filters may cause vignetting, particularly with wider lenses.

Each filter incorporates two glass elements, encapsulated in an aluminum alloy and secured with nano multi-layer coatings. According to Viltrox, this does not affect image quality. To ensure safety during transport and storage, each filter comes with front and rear caps, and both exposed glass surfaces of each filter are treated with waterproof and anti-fouling coatings.

Pricing and Availability

The Viltrox Zmove Series Cine Lens Diopters Set is now up for grabs on the manufacturer’s website. The four-filter set, complete with a protective carrying case, is priced at $2,599.
