Introduction

Coinciding with the launch of Panasonic LUMIX S9, the photographic technology giant Panasonic rolls out its unique companion application, the LUMIX Lab. Primarily accessible to Android users via the Google Play store, Panasonic assures its imminent availability for iOS users too.

Exploring the LUMIX S9

LUMIX S9, the latest full-frame mirrorless camera by Panasonic, stands parallel to its predecessors, the S5 II and S5 II X, in terms of features. These include internal recording capabilities of up to 6K30P in 4:2:0 10-bit in a 3:2 Open Gate mode. The LUMIX S9, tailored for on-the-move or travel-based content creators, also boasts unique additions such as Wi-Fi 5.0 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Further enhancing its usage, LUMIX S9 also flaunts a dedicated LUT button that works best with the LUMIX Lab companion app.

Unveiling the Features of Panasonic LUMIX Lab App

Initially, the LUMIX Lab app has been designed to pair exclusively with LUMIX S9. However, according to Panasonic, the utility of the app is set to broaden its reach, becoming compatible with the likes of S5 II, S5 IIX, and G9 II.

The hallmark of the LUMIX Lab app lies in its editing, creating, downloading, and transferring LUTs directly to your camera. Of course, you can still load LUTs to your camera via an SD card, but doing it via the app is faster. As a reminder, the LUMIX S9 can store up to 39 LUTs internally, and they can be applied to photos and videos.

The app also facilitates wireless photo and video transfers from your camera to your smartphone, bypassing the need for a computer. This can be performed via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections. Furthermore, there’s an option to activate the “automatic image transfer function” for effortless transfer of pictures and videos (in MP4 Lite format only) to your smartphone.

Editing, adjusting photos/videos, and sharing them on social media directly from the app is another appealing functionality of the LUMIX Lab app.

Availability

Currently, Android users can revel in the features of the Panasonic LUMIX Lab app, available without charges on the Google Play store. iPhone users can look forward to the app’s introduction on the App Store in the near future.
