Shimbol: The Novel Entrant to the Filmmaking Market
As a fresh face in the filmmaking realm, Shimbol has been stirring up the industry with products since its inception in 2022. They are pioneers in offering reasonably priced video-monitoring tools, including monitors and wireless monitors. Their latest release, the TP Mini, challenges the wireless video market with its highly competitive pricing.
Unraveling the Features of Shimbol TP Mini
The TP Mini system, a combination of one wireless video transmitter and receiver, is both compact and lightweight, weighing in at 113g, and measuring 103 x 63.5 x 16mm/4.05 x 2.48 x 0.62in. Both units feature an aluminum case that not only makes for a sturdy build but also aids in heat dissipation as the TP Mini operates as a fan-less system.
With embedded antennas, the TP Mini boasts a low profile and mitigates any antenna damage. Located on the right side of the transmitter, you’ll find an HDMI input and output port capable of supporting resolutions up to 1080P60. Simultaneously, the receiver houses two HDMI output ports functioning at a maximum resolution of 1080P60. To power both the TX and RX units externally, a 5V USB-C port is provided.
On the contrary side of the TP Mini, there is a status screen, navigation buttons, and a power switch. The system operates on a 5Ghz bandwidth with a transmission range going up to 600ft/182m and a latency of approximately 70ms/0.07s. At the back, a Sony NP-F battery plate is located.
The low power consumption of the transmitter at 2.5W and the receiver at 2W allows for extensive hours of operation alongside a small Sony NP-F570 battery. A 1/4″-20 mounting point at the unit’s bottom offers easy attachment to the camera rig with a monitor mount or magic arm.
