Viltrox has marked an exciting milestone ahead of Cinegear 2024 as it launches the much-anticipated LUNA 30-300mm T4 Zoom lens. The first in its series, the lens is expected to be joined by a 22-200mm T2.8 S35 Luna zoom and a large zoom for 65mm sensors in the future.
Exclusive Preview at Cinegear 2024
At the forthcoming Cinegear event, the new LUNA 30-300mm T4 lens will be mounted on a camera at the Viltrox booth for attendees to enjoy a hands-on experience.
Optical Quality at its Best
Viltrox created this lens as their statement piece, representing the pinnacle of optical quality. Engineered with a permanent T4 aperture that traverses the entire zoom range, it provides comprehensive coverage for image circles as wide as 46.5mm. It flawlessly fits full-frame sensors with zero vignetting, even at the extreme ends of the zoom spectrum.
Full-Frame Sensor Coverage and More
In addition to complete full-frame sensor coverage (FF: 36.00mm x 24.00mm), it caters to larger formats like the ARRI LF (36.70mm x 21.54mm) and RED VV (40.96mm x 21.60mm), with its 46.5mm image circle diameter.
Lens Dimensions and Design Features
Weighing a substantial 33 lbs/15 kg, the Luna 30-300mm T4 lens offers a consistent T4.0 aperture across the entire 30-300mm focal range. Combined with an 8-blade diaphragm, it ensures uniform brightness, and shallow depth of field, and creates aesthetically pleasing bokeh.
Structural Strengths
Its rear focus flexibility, attributable to the adjustable flange focal distance, allows for accurate alignment with different cinema cameras. The parfocal design ensures the focus plane remains consistent throughout the zoom range. Key features include stable focus, smooth zooming, an easy-to-use magnetic filter attachment, an integrated handle, and a 3/8” threaded base. With a front diameter measuring 165mm and a minimum object distance of 1.26m/4ft 2in, the lens emerges as a massive piece of equipment.
Target Audience and Pricing
Ideal for wildlife and sports photographers, the Viltrox Luna 30-300mm T4 Full Frame Zoom Lens has already piqued interest among NASCAR enthusiasts. It will retail for approximately $65,000 USD, which is reasonably priced for a lens offering such a wide focal range and aperture that covers a 46.5mm image circle.”
