ZEISS, a renowned name in the cinematography industry, has recently launched the most substantial update to its CinCraft Scenario system – CinCraft Scenario 2.0. This new iteration introduces support for a range of third-party cine and broadcast lenses, along with several additional features and bug fixes.

Exploring the CinCraft Scenario System

CinCraft Scenario is a real-time camera tracking system developed by ZEISS and NCam for applications in virtual production, live compositing, and VFX post-production. The system, consisting of both hardware and software components, has been upgraded to its 2.0 version.

What’s New in CinCraft Scenario 2.0?

The original CinCraft Scenario was integrated with ZEISS and ARRI/ZEISS lenses. This updated version extends its support to third-party lenses with the help of pre-calibrated lens templates and a Lens Template Finetuner.

The following are the new features introduced in CinCraft Scenario 2.0.5:

  1. Integration of Ncam Reality Lens Calibrations
  2. A free Lens Template database for non-ZEISS cinema and broadcast lenses
  3. Lens Template Finetuner with guided steps for real lens matching
  4. An updated list of supported camera models and recording formats including Sony Burano and RED Komodo-X
  5. The addition of a ping functionality
  6. Updated CamBar and visual display of tracking points

In addition, CinCraft Scenario 2.0.5 also comes with several bug fixes. These include an improved cloning tracking configuration, fixed encoder disconnection, and an enhanced Link update process.

Introducing CinCraft Export 1.0

Alongside the new upgrade, ZEISS also introduced CinCraft Export 1.0, a tool designed to prepare recorded tracking data for post-production.

Pricing and Availability

Given the complexity of the system, the ZEISS CinCraft camera tracking system can be tailored according to the user’s needs. However, bundle options are also available. The ZEISS CinCraft Scenario Base Bundle retails at $13,000, the Advanced Bundle costs $16,000, and the ZEISS CinCraft Scenario Advanced Broadcast Bundle is priced at $43,600.
