Sony has officially launched the new Xperia 1 VI, a smartphone that brings advanced AI technology to enhance both camera and display performance. With a new telephoto lens and various other improvements, this device is set to narrow the gap between smartphones and traditional cameras.
Bridging the Gap Between Smartphones and Cameras
As technology advances, the differences between smartphones and cameras continue to shrink. The main distinguishing factor remains the sensor size, but many features found in high-end cameras are now available in top-tier smartphones like the iPhone 15 Pro and the newly announced Sony Xperia 1 VI.
AI-Assisted Photography and New Telephoto Lens
The Xperia 1 VI boasts a new telephoto optical zoom lens with up to 7.1x zoom, offering a focal length range from 85mm to 170mm. Additionally, the phone includes a 24mm lens equipped with Sony’s ‘Exmor T for mobile’ image sensor, which ensures excellent low-light performance. AI technology enhances focus tracking and human pose identification. The maximum magnification of approximately 2x and a minimum focus distance of 4cm make this phone ideal for macro photography.
Enhanced Display and Audio
Understanding the importance of smartphones for entertainment, Sony has integrated their BRAVIA TV technology into the Xperia 1 VI’s display. The AI-powered image adjustment technology improves contrast, color, and clarity. The display is 1.5 times brighter than the previous model, with real-time AI adjustments to avoid highlight clipping.
In terms of audio, the Xperia 1 VI includes a new Premium Audio Circuit for 3.5mm wired headphones and an improved speaker that reduces distortion at high volumes and optimizes low-frequency output. It supports High-Resolution Audio, High-Resolution Audio Wireless, LDAC, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Snapdragon Sound.
Improved Battery Life and New App Features
The Xperia 1 VI features a 5,000 mAh battery, providing over 36 hours of continuous playback, thanks to its advanced heat dissipation system and power efficiency technology. The battery charges to 50% in approximately 30 minutes, with Battery Care and Xperia Adaptive Charging protecting it from overworking during charging.
Sony has also updated the camera app, offering a user-friendly interface with special shooting modes and customizable color presets like ‘Creative Look’. The new Pro video mode includes advanced controls, and touch tracking allows for automatic adjustments to color and brightness.
Price and Availability
The Sony Xperia 1 VI is priced at around £1299/€1399 and will be available for purchase starting early June. For more information, visit Sony’s website.
