Introduction
The Teradek RT MOTR.S latest firmware update (version 1.2.12) has been rolled out, focusing more on improvements rather than on incorporating new features. This new update chiefly aims to enhance the MOTR.S performance on stiff or sticky lenses. Furthermore, it aims to prevent unnecessary detection of lens end stops during calibration when dealing with such lenses.
Advance Details
One can now experience augmented MOTR.S. performance while handling rigid or adhesive lenses. The surge in performance is also evident when the MOTR.S is powered by higher voltage batteries, lying in the range of 24 to 26 volts.
Bugs and Fixes
An annoying bug where the MOTR.S incorrectly identified a stuck lens and subsequently became unresponsive has been addressed and fixed in this update.
Update Guidelines
The MOTR.S can be updated through the RT Manager by following these simple steps:
- Open the RT Manager.
- Connect your MDR device (MDR.S, MDR.X, or MDR.ACI) to a power source, and then connect it to your computer via the included USB cable.
- In the Motor tab, select MOTR.S from the Choose Motor Model menu.
- Press and hold the axis select button on the MOTR.S, and while doing so, connect the motor to the middle motor port on your MDR device. The F and Z LEDs on the MOTR.S should blink continuously.
- Upload the firmware file from the web or your computer to the RT Manager, and then initiate the upgrade by clicking the Start Upgrade button.
- RT Manager will confirm when the firmware upgrade is completed.
Highlighting MOTR.S
The Teradek RT MOTR.S motor is admired for its ultra-lightweight, compact design and high speed with up to 297 teeth per second. It permits daisy-chaining, supports power inputs up to 32V, and simplifies camera rigging with a novel quick-release gear system and ergonomic rod clamps. It is backward-compatible with all earlier RT handsets, receivers, and daisy-chainable motors (such as the MOTR.X).
Packaging
The MOTR.S lens comes bundled with Trader’s MOTR.S FIZ Kit and MOTR.S Single Channel Kit, offering comprehensive motor control for focus, iris, and zoom. What’s more, the optional MOTR.S MAX offers up to 3X sustained torque output for stiff, resistant dials on heavy-duty lenses. This additional motor comes with one 0.8 gear. However, to note, no motor cables are included.
In conclusion, with the latest firmware update, the Teradek RT MOTR.S motor continues to be a reliable and effective addition to your kit, offering controlled performance, adaptability, and enhanced user experience.
