Meta-owned WhatsApp continues to evolve its messaging service with exciting updates to its video capabilities. One of the latest enhancements is the introduction of a feature that allows users to send video notes directly from the camera.
Video Notes: A New Way to Communicate
WhatsApp has been working on a feature that enables users to share video notes across conversations. This feature is currently available for selected beta users on Android who have installed the Android 2.24.14.14 beta update, and it is gradually rolling out to iOS beta users as well.
Introduced just over a year ago, video notes function similarly to voice messages but with the added benefit of video. Users can instantly record and share up to 60-second video notes directly within the chat. The new update has been designed to simplify the workflow process further by enabling videos to be recorded straight from the camera. According to WABetaInfo, this feature enhances the process of recording and sharing video notes by allowing users to capture video messages directly within the camera interface.
Privacy and Convenience
WABetaInfo highlights that the feature will eliminate the need to record the same video note multiple times across different conversations. Addressing privacy concerns, WhatsApp ensures that video notes are private and secure. Only the sender can forward their own video notes, and it is not possible for others to forward or save these video notes.
Integration with Meta AI
In addition to these updates, WhatsApp is exploring new ways to integrate with Meta AI to make the service more personalized. The AI feature will allow users to generate AI-powered images of themselves. By providing a set of initial images, users can create personalized images that accurately represent their appearance.
Crucially, especially in light of recent controversies such as the Adobe scandal, users will maintain full control over their setup photos, with the option to delete them at any time.
